American Apartment Diary project is dedicated to my first years in the USA. Self-portraits from different places I lived in or stayed overnight started as a joke as I wanted to create a memory of the places I visited but not typical tourist photos. The rooms and locations I photographed in, were not styled or arranged in any way. I wanted to be one of the items in the space.

Without the face or eye contact, the body is just a surface for the light and shadows. It is present in the picture but lacks human attributes. I imagined myself as furniture and asked what would be a good spot for me to be placed in. Suddenly, I did not control the room anymore, the room controlled me.

Exhibited at Brooklyn Photo Studio, One Night Only Art, April 18th 2014
